Basra triumphs in the reserve league final... Naft Al-Basra crowned champions, Al-Bahri shares in the achievement.
The Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, extends his warmest congratulations to the administrative board, coaching staff, and players of Naft Al-Basra Club on winning the Iraqi Reserve League (Under 21) title for the 2025/2026 season. This victory came after their 2-1 win against Al-Bahri Club in the final match, which was held in Basra on Friday.
The match was attended by the Second Vice President of the Iraqi Football Association, Mr. Mohammed Nasser Shukrun, and several other prominent Basra sports figures. Special mention must be made of the significant and outstanding role played by Mr. Amjad Mohammed Ali, Vice President of the Basra branch of the Iraqi Football Association, in organizing this match. While we congratulate them on this well-deserved achievement, we affirm that Basra's sport was the biggest winner in this final, which brought together two long-established teams from the province. The players presented a commendable image reflecting the development of Basra's football and the success of the work done in youth categories.
We also appreciate the great efforts of the esteemed coach, Mustafa Majisar, who led the team with competence and skill throughout the tournament, translating his technical and educational work into an achievement that adds to Basra's sporting record full of successes.
We also extend our greetings and appreciation to Al-Bahri Club and its technical and administrative staff, especially the academic supervisor of the team at the college, Professor Dr. Abdul Ali Jaafar, the coach, and the players, for their outstanding performance and fair competition, which contributed to making the final match a resounding success. We affirm that the true victory belonged to Basra and its people.
